    Article summary

Getting a library card is a simple process, and we offer various options for different types of residents. Here's how you can obtain a library card with us:

Jefferson County, IN Residents and Property Owners:

If you are a resident or property owner in Jefferson County, IN, you are eligible for a free Jefferson County Public Library card. To apply, bring a valid government-issued photo ID to our Circulation Desk. The application typically takes 5-10 minutes. Minors must have the approval of a legal guardian, and property owners living elsewhere should provide a current property tax bill if they wish to get a card.

If your photo ID does not include your current address, please also bring one of the following documents, dated within the last 30 days: housing lease signed within the last 30 days, bank statement, credit card statement, or utility bill.

Indiana Residents Living Outside Jefferson County:

Indiana residents living outside Jefferson County may be eligible for a free membership under the Indiana State Library's RECIPROCAL BORROWER COVENANT. Alternatively, other options include PLAC (Public Library Access Card) memberships or purchasing an individual library membership.

    Kentucky Residents:

Kentucky residents have the option to purchase a membership. Jefferson County, IN residents can also purchase a membership at the Trimble County Library in Kentucky.

If you have more questions or need additional details, don't hesitate to contact the Library or consult our BORROWER SERVICES POLICY
